PRESS STATEMENT ABOUT THE NEW SUPC LOGOS

In corroboration to resolutions and decisive efforts being made by the Students' Union Executive Council to rebrand the Students' Union Press Club, new logos have been created to further portray, vividly, the new ideologies of the Press Club.

The logos, which are two, although share almost the same meanings, are situation-specific.

Logo Parts and their Specific Symbolic Meanings

First Logo:

Union Fist - symbolizes our staunch affiliation with the Union whose name we bear. It also symbolizes the enduring fighting spirit in us to advocate the just cause of the Union Members.

Open Book - symbolizes knowledge and enlightenment which we hope to propagate through our publications

Red Colour - stands for Struggle and Passion

Blue Colour - stands for the Nobility of the Press

This first logo will only be used during times of "Peace". By peace, we mean seasons when our members are free to write the truth as it is, without imminent threats to their personalities.

Second Logo:

Union Fist - symbolizes our staunch affiliation with the Union whose name we bear. It also symbolizes the enduring fighting spirit in us to advocate the just cause of the Union Members.

Pen - the pen is there to corroborate the popular saying "the Pen is Mightier than the Sword". This means the pen stands for our own assault weapon of Truth against thick walls of Oppression and barrages of Lies. Besides, the pen is a symbol easily associated with Journalism as a profession.

Red Colour - stands for Struggle and Passion

Blue Colour - stands for the Nobility of the Press

The second logo will only be used during times of "War". By war, we mean seasons when our guerilla tactics will have to come to the absolute foreground; times when the Press as a whole will be in obvious intellectual war fare with the forces of Oppression and Deception. Hence, the pen.
