EFIWE NEWS: 117 Out Of 5,598 UI Graduates Bags First Class | READ

The University of Ibadan on Monday held its convocation ceremony for 5,598 graduates,  with 117 of them finishing in the first class category.
Aside the first class graduates, 1,407 others finished in the second class upper division while 3,020 earned second class.
A total of 666 got third class  while 74 graduated with passes.

Some other 314 graduands, however, were awarded certificates categorised as unclassified.
While giving his maiden convocation speech, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their programmes after passing through what he described as ‘towering academic challenges’.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is heart-warming to note that, in spite of all hazards, you have been found to be worthy in character and academics, hence your graduation today,” he said.

Olayinka explained that 13 out of the 117 first class graduates were from the Faculty of Arts, 25 from the Faculty of Science and one each from the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Public Health.
