Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, said during the weekend that he has put behind him the Super Eagles failure to book a place at the 2017 Nations Cup to be hosted in Gabon.

The 29-year-old said he now looks ahead to challenge for the ticket to 2018 World Cup in Russia when the qualifiers starts next Month.

Nigeria overcame Tanzania on Saturday when Kelechi Iheanacho’s 77th minute strike silenced Charles Mkwasa’s men who were hoping to cage the Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
The victory was just for the pride as the three-time African champions will be missing in action when the tournament gets underway in Gabon.

He told Goal, “I always strive to be exemplary and to live as a model for others.”
“I know how important the [qualifiers] are in our bid to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
“That was the reason why I came for the Tanzania encounter which is a good preparation for the clash against Zambia.
“We all must do our part. We should not continue to dwell on the past to move forward. We must put our house in order if we are to play in Russia.”

The Super Eagles with their new handler, Gernot Rohr must overpower Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia for the green-white-green flag to be hoisted in Russia.
