EFIWE SPORTS: Arsenal Confident Of Ozil And Sanchez Signing New Contract Deals

Arsenal confident of tying Alexis and Ozil down to new contractsThe Gunners expect their star duo to sign new deals with talks scheduled over the coming months, but Arsene Wenger is mulling over his own
Arsenal remain confident of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil putting pen to paper on new contract extensions after scheduling talks with both players, Goal understands.

The star duo have less than two years remaining on their current contracts and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is determined to tie them down to new deals before the end of the season.

Negotiations with Ozil and Sanchez’s representatives are expected to begin within the next two months, with Wenger already revealing that he will start talks with Jack Wilshere over an extension in December.

The former, who joined Arsenal for a club-record £42.5 million fee in 2013, topped the Premier League assists chart with 19 last season.

Sanchez - who recently compared his abilities to that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi - scored 13 goals in 30 appearances and notched a crucial equaliser against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
The Chilean has already extended his working visa by two-and-half years after previously having to wait in Paris to have it processed last summer.

There is no suggestion that the visa extension means his future lies at Arsenal, but it is said behind the scenes at the club that the Chilean is enjoying life in London and sees his future at the Emirates.
“They still have two years contract and there is no urgent as well”, Wenger told reporters at the start of the 2016-17 season.

“They [Arsenal fans] have no reason to be concerned. At the moment we have priorities, and most of the time contract extensions are done outside the transfer window because it gives you a bit more time and focus on that”

Arsenal’s latest financial results revealed £159m in cash reserves, meaning that they are now able to compete with Europe’s powerhouses to keep their best players at the club.

Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs all see their deals expire in 2018 but it is expected that Wenger will wait until the end of the season before making a final decision on whether to offer them fresh terms.

Wenger also has his own contract issues to contend with as his 20th term as Arsenal boss could come to an end in May and is yet to make a decision on whether he will stay at the club with his contract expiring in June.

Whether the long-serving Gunners boss extends is said to be dependent on how ‘successful’ a season he has with the Gunners.

It’s been almost four years since Arsenal last sold a major player with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie all departing the Emirates Stadium for bigger pay packets in the past.
