EFIWE NEWS: We Don't Have A Dean Of Students - UISU Pres. Ojo Nifemi @studentsunionui

The President of the Students’ Union in the University of Ibadan, Mr. Ojo Oluwanifemi, has lamented that the Union lacks the ideal Dean to direct the affairs of students in the University. He made this cry during the Presidential Media Chat organized by the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan at the Students’ Representatives Council chambers on Thursday 15th September 2016.

Mr. Nifemi pointed out that the Union is without a Dean of Students, as the Dean, rather than alleviate the pains of the Union, is increasing it. According to him, “It is very unfortunate that we have the kind of Dean of Students we have… The Union is already where we do not have anybody for us except ourselves”. “We are just on our own, we have no mouthpiece”, he emphasized.

The Students’ Union President added that the Dean of Students, Professor A.T.P Ajuwape, has failed in his responsibility as they always find it difficult to approach him. He added that instead of playing a fatherly role, he has been in charge of orchestrating how student victimization would be possible.

“The Hall signatory issue is just so messed up. The dean of students have been keeping malice with us because I said the stand of the Students’ Union is a NO as regards the order that Assistant Hall Wardens should be principal signatory to the Hall Executive accounts. For me, I am not enjoying the privilege of a mouthpiece. I must also acknowledge the Students’ Representatives Council, the Speaker is trying. It is just like I am the Dean of Students and he is the Students’ Union President”, he said
